Wildflower Rise — Goat Milk Hand & Body Wash

$35.00

Most body washes that call themselves natural are detergent. This one is soap.

Pick up almost any "natural" wash and read the back — you'll find surfactants built in a factory from processed plant feedstocks. Read the back of this one and you'll find Potassium Olivate, Potassium Cocoate, Potassium Castorate. That's the olive oil, the coconut oil and the castor oil, after they've been turned into soap the way soap has been made for centuries.

I cook the soap paste in my kitchen at Moore Park Beach — four oils and an alkali, stirred and watched for six hours until it runs clear. Then it's diluted slowly, softened with goat milk and vegetable glycerine, and scented with nothing but pure essential oils.

Eleven ingredients. No sulfates, no synthetic fragrance, no dyes. One preservative, because it's a bottle of water and soap and it has to stay safe.

Wildflower Rise is rose geranium first — green, soft, properly rosy — with ylang ylang for warmth underneath and bergamot lifting the top. Because the scent is the oils themselves, it softens on the skin rather than following you around all day.

Hands, body, or a few pumps under a running tap for the most beautiful bubble bath.

Made by hand in small batches. When a batch sells out, there's a wait while I make the next one.
